Presentation: Strategic Transportation Safety Plan (STSP)
Speaker: Paul Casertano, PAG

Pima Association of Governments (PAG) is currently developing the region’s first comprehensive Strategic Transportation Safety Plan (STSP). The STSP will address the necessary steps and elements, from a regional transportation planning perspective, to reduce the risk of death and serious injury to all transportation users in the Tucson metropolitan region. The PAG STSP will establish a regional vision, goals, objectives, strategies, countermeasures and performance measures for transportation safety that are consistent with the Arizona Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). This will ensure that federal requirements are met, statewide/local consistency is prevalent, and unique regional needs are addressed. PAG staff will provide an update on efforts taken to date including the establishment of a regional safety mission statement and overall goal for safety improvement, regional safety profile analysis, efforts underway to refine regional crash analysis methodology and incorporation of Safety Performance Functions (SPF) into the analysis approach. Staff also will provide information on next steps such as the development of safety emphasis areas, safety strategies, and efforts to assist PAG jurisdictions with safety project scoping and project development.

The meeting will be held in the Pima County DOT Safety Conference Room at 1313 S. Mission Road. Lunch starts at 11:30 AM, and the presentation will begin at noon. Cost for members and non-members is $10, and students are free. Join us for this exciting presentation!
