Presentation: Smart Transportation & Communication Networks: Tucson, AZ

This presentation will explore the technical infrastructure required to achieve the promise of Connected Vehicles and Autonomy. Vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure, and vehicle-to-x will require massive amounts of data to be transmitted. DSRC, 4G, and 5G will all have a role enabling the “things” in the Intelligent Roadway Ecosystem. Arizona is a leader in the early deployment and operations of Smart Transportation Solutions and Jenn has been part of a group of individuals in advancing these efforts.

Presenter biography: Jennifer Toothaker, City of Tucson Department of Transportation Planning Division

As an urban planner and project manager with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation Planning Division, Jenn led the team that developed Tucson’s application to the US DOT’s Smart City Challenge. Since that time, she has worked in myriad ways to help define, support, and expand both Tucson’s smart transportation efforts and the organization’s Smart City Tucson program. She has 17 years of experience working with the City of Tucson, including: capital improvements project management, transportation planning and design, policy development, strategic and long-range planning, and historic preservation. She graduated Scripps College with a B.S. in Classical Studies, and holds a M.Admin. from Northern Arizona University emphasizing community planning, project management, and public management.

Lunch starts at 11:30, and the presentation will begin at noon. Please RSVP by August 22 to Cost for lunch is $10, but is free for students; lunch will be a mixed sandwich tray from Jimmy John's, chips, and drinks.
