Presentation: Tucson Shared Mobility Pilot Program

Presentation Summary: On September 12, 2019 the City of
Tucson launched a 6-month Shared Mobility Pilot Program permitting 2 companies (Bird and Razor) to operate fleets of shared electric scooters on city streets. Following a growing trend in shared micro-mobility programs across the world, Tucson launched the pilot to learn if and how shared electric scooters may help serve transportation needs in our community and whether or not they have a role to play in reducing vehicle miles traveled, encouraging active transportation choices, and helping people access transit. Roughly half way through the pilot
period, city staff will provide an update on the program's successes and challenges to date.

Presenter Biography: Andy Bemis is the Bicycle & Pedestrian Program Coordinator for the City of Tucson Transportation Department where he directs a wide range of engineering,
education, encouragement, evaluation, and enforcement efforts to improve conditions for walking and biking (and scooting) in Tucson. He is the lead author of Tucson's Bike Boulevard Master Plan, Project Manager for Tucson's long-range Mobility Master Plan, and coordinator of Tucson's Electric Scooter Pilot Program. Andy holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration with a
focus in urban sustainability policy and planning from the University of Arizona.

The meeting will be held in the Pima County Safety Conference Room. Lunch begins at 11:30 AM and the presentation will begin at noon. Cost is $10, but is free for students. Please RSVP to SAITE@outlook.com by Wednesday, December 11.
